"You have a lot of high-quality analysis in your paper, but your essay lacks a sense of focus. While your thesis statement makes a grand observation about society, your body paragraphs often discuss specific examples of different literary devices without deep connections being made to the thesis. Revising your thesis so that it better reflects your content would strengthen the work. Since the narrator has no name, you can either refer to the individual as “the narrator” without a capitalized “n” or “the woman” since you know that she is female. The title of a short story should be enclosed in quotation marks instead of italicized, and leading and trailing ellipses are typically omitted from direct quotes. A space should be inserted between a closing quotation mark and an opening parenthesis. Meanwhile, you have a tendency to insert commas before the word “and” when they’re not needed. Other statements in the work would benefit from a comma to, for example, separate an introductory clause from the rest of the sentence."
