Bridget's feedback:
"This RLS novella is a favorite of mine, and I enjoyed your engaging exploration of the various themes and techniques. My first comment is regarding purpose, as the final sentences of the introduction and conclusion read more like book review language than that of an analytical essay. If this is acceptable will depend on your prompt, so double-check your instructions to make sure your approach suits those expectations. If you want to align the language with a more formal analysis, you will want to shift the statements into cause-effect claims that show Stevenson used specific tools for specific goals, e.g., "Stevenson's fascinating use of intriguing symbols and puns contribute to the irony that makes the novel interesting." (I suggest cutting "This novel is truly an astonishing piece of literature..." or reframing it at a different point as personal opinion, separate from the analytical project.)
My second comment is about the discussion occupying the second page, which is undertaken without regard to chronology. This may be a result of language: clarify that the terminology came after the novel, not currently clear in the second sentence of that page. On a similar note regarding claims, "Stevenson had also intended..." (the paragraph on puns) will need to be backed up with reference to the source that substantiates this statement of the author's intent."
