Bob's feedback:
"You've identified some great examples of Shakespeare's portrayal of Macbeth as a violent character. Your discussion of the turning point in Macbeth's character arc is particularly good. However, the focus of this paper could be reworked. You state in the introduction and conclusion that you are showing that Shakespeare portrays Macbeth as a violent character. What is this in contrast to? How might others perceive Macbeth? Why is it important to show that he is violent and dangerous?
The first-person introduction and conclusion ("I will discuss/I have discussed") are unnecessary unless you have been instructed to write them this way. If not, consider taking all references to yourself out of the essay. An objective, third-person discussion will be stronger and sound more academic.
Consider taking a look at your organization as well. There is a lot of repetition, and much of the discussion comes back to the same point: that Macbeth is violent. As I mentioned above, this idea could be developed more to explain the significance of this observation, and this would help to avoid the repetition. Finally, consider having the essay proofread to address mistakes in grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure."
